Not Yet a Good Garden

It was a huge mistake to sow seeds in a garden that has been left to build a large store of weed seeds in the soil. The image above is of plants that I brought on in pots first. Everywhere that I just sowed seeds, the weeds suffocated them out.

The main reason for growing Calendula was for the flowers, which have medicinal uses.

This is Borage. The flowers are edible but I planted them to attract bees. It works well.

Leaf salad has now all gone to seed. I like how they look. I have no idea how they taste. Harvesting the leaves should be done early in the morning, so next year I'll bear that in mind.

Considering I did nothing to help them, the raspberries have done well in providing the occassional snack.
